If you haven't heard of this man and his project, you must be sleeping under a rock. Before I berate you for not yet experiencing this awesome madness, I highly suggest that you pull up your Google search engine, take a seat & a deep breath to prepare yourself for some sick-nasty Miami Bass, infused with undeniably delicious Latin flavors and spices. If that isn't seductive enough, try adding in a good bit of enticing, sci-fi visual themes that consist of (but are not limited to:) dinosaurs, a Monkey Astronaut, space aliens and Alligator Jesus?! I'm sold. I should also definitely advise bracing yourself and buckling your seat belt for a wild ride of hysterically dirty Cuban euphemisms, the most luscious trannies in all the 305 and beats that shall surely convince you to dance like a ho.

Otto Von Schirach, signed to Monkeytown Records alongside other great artists such as Siriusmo, Mouse on Mars and Modeselektor, is almost always my go-to morning booty music, as well as a favorite artist featured on our party play-lists. When his track, "When Dinosaurs Rule The Earth" comes on the playlist, I've seen reactions of either instant excitement or extreme confusion about what it is they're hearing from the speakers. Needless-to-say, Supermeng is definitely in my top favorite albums to come out of Miami thus far and I highly recommend it. As far as a new record coming out, I can hardly contain my excitement! Congratulations to Otto and his Triangle Earth fam on being nominated for the Mastermind 2014 award (I hope you win!) For those of you going to the Miami New Times Artopia event, be on the look out.

Cog Nomen @ The Wynwood Brewing Co this past Artwalk!

Buffalo Brown
Ulysses Perez

These images are of an awesome project here in Miami called Cog Nomen, performing live at the Wynwood Brewing Co this past Saturday for Artwalk.

What the *@#& is a Cog Nomen?! Well, if you remove the space you get the term cognomen, meaning a the third name for a citizen of Ancient Rome (or a surname/nickname/family name.)

Cog Nomen in this sense (with a space) is an awesome musical endeavor featuring Miami's own Buffalo Brown and Ulysses Perez. These two are an incredibly talented pair of musicians who merge their individual styles together to create some funky and intergalactic, electro-techno music. My personal favorite Cog Nomen track is titled: Thus Spoke the Insect. To me, it sounds like a cool, robotic grasshopper just traveled through the depths of space in the spring time, landed in a futuristic milk-bar and starts to jam out with the drummer and the guitarist who are performing for the bar patrons by feeding their sounds through advanced alien software. But hey, that's just my imagination.

Anyway, their performance on Saturday was fantastical as usual. If you have a spare moment why don't you take a listen and make up your own opinion, won't you? :P

Fotre @ The Monterey Club in Fort Lauderdale

If you've been around the South Florida area for a while and are interested in things such as tattoos, punk shows and that sexy pin-up/rockabilly style, you may have come across a neat spot up in Ft. Laudy called The Monterey Club (attached to the Kreepy Tiki Tattoo Shop and Boutique.) To make a long story short, the Monterey Club wanted to celebrate their re-opening and invited my good friends, Fotre, to come out and throw it down. I don't want to get into too many details about the show, but I will say that my homies definitely rocked that place and the energy was passionate and raw. I had a great time and took some photos, which is what I'd like to share. I'm developing these techniques more and more as I go and I'm obviously having a blast! I experimented a bit more, in camera, for some of these images as I played with my flash and various lens tricks. I then brought them into Photoshop and combined them with the mirrored effect for a really unique viewing experience. Enjoy!
